Why Should You Invest in Family Photos?

Let's talk about family photos. I personally know so many people who feel family photos aren't necessary because of how amazing our iPhones are. I bet that most of those "family photos" are just quick snaps at a family get together or before church though, am i right? They're likely super posed, taken by Great Aunt Stacy who had to take her glasses off to see the screen, still sounds pretty accurate right? I know they know the importance of capturing that moment in time because they did stop Aunt Stacy and asked her for that photo, but unfortunately they also probably think that booking a photographer to take some family photos is just a waste of time and money.

I'm here to tell you though that it's not a waste, and it's actually beyond worth it. Our children are ever growing and the next day isn't a guarantee. I have become such a believer in the importance of preserving these memories while you can. Although it may be an investment to you at the moment, the memories will be treasured for a lifetime. I'm going to share some of the main reasons I believe this to be true and why you shouldn't wait any longer to schedule a family session.

Main Reasons Why You Should Stop Waiting

1. Time is fleeting

The truth is that time goes way too fast, especially when you're watching a baby grow. I have never had a year go by faster than when my babies went from newborns to walking toddlers in a blink of an eye. You might think you'll remember what the last stage was like, but I promise you, you won't remember exactly how many arm rolls they had or just how silly that self haircut your 3 year old gave themselves was.

2. Everyone is in front of the camera

I know for those parents who are so use to being behind the camera this might seem scary, but when your kids look back at these photos one day, they will want you to be in them. Looking back at family photos and being able to see everyone interacting and having fun together, it'll be worth it.

3. They're actually fun!

Family sessions don't have to be stressful or serious at all. I love to capture your family as just that, your family. We'll laugh, play, run around, and just capture the real stuff. Family sessions to me are all about relaxing and having a good time with those you love.

4. The photos make great holiday cards and gifts

It's always fun to receive a holiday card with a great updated family photo, so this year, you can be the one sending them too! You can also use your new photos to create gifts for your friends and family like mugs, calendars, notepads, albums, and more!

5. The photos are perfect home decor

What better way to decorate your home than with photos of your beautiful family? Your new images are perfect for framing around your house. Put some in the hallway, hang them in the living room, or just a small photo on your bedside table. There are so many fun gallery options now too!

6. You are investing in an experience

So Great Aunt Stacy got those cute pics of you at the family reunion, but did they capture all the moments before and after that photo too? Did she capture you all giggling at the dog eating a hotdog off Uncle Jerry's plate? When you schedule a session with your family, you are not just buying some digital images, you are investing in an experience. A professional photographer has all the tools and knowledge to make your session amazing, and it will show!

When it Comes Down to it...

...you have to prioritize investments for your family. If documenting your family every year, every other year, or every 3 years is what you chose to prioritize, I recommend budgeting for it. Set aside that money at the beginning of the year or when your tax return comes back and then you can go ahead and schedule a session in advance for the time of year you want to take them. It guarantees you those photos and gives you plenty of time to prepare for the session to get those amazing photos.

5 years from now, you won't regret investing in a family photo session. You'll only regret not having those photos when it's already too late.
